The Major League Quizzing Ministry

Our Ministry Vision

Major League Quizzing is committed to encouraging and motivating believers to memorize and meditate upon Scripture

We believe that memorizing Scripture is vital and key to developing our Spiritual walk with the Lord. Meditation is important to keeping the truth of God’s Word fresh in our mind and memorization is the pathway to meditation.

Foundation of Quizzing

Major League Quizzing is built upon the foundation of GLORIFYING God. As believers our purpose and priority is to praise, honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. When we commit HIS WORDS to our hearts and minds we are able to ponder and meditate upon them. This draws us closer to Christ and the closer we come to Christ, the more we are able to glorify God.

David says in Psalm 1,

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

We are blessed when we delight and meditate on the Word of God, and compared to a tree planted by streams of water able to bear fruit! One of the most valuable uses of our time is memorizing and meditating upon Scripture! This is something that God wants us to do in order to be effective and useful for His kingdom. We believe He is very pleased by the efforts we make toward putting His Word in our hearts.

THE FOUR PILLARS OF QUIZZING

Memorization

Major League Quizzing encourages Christians to dedicate time to memorize chapters of the Bible. Memorization is the central core of MLQ. We seek to memorize because we recognize that it is a spiritual discipline that is vital to enhancing and strengthening our walk with the Lord. MLQ gently pushes believers to memorize larger portions of scripture than they otherwise would have memorized on their own.

Meditation

Major League Quizzing prompts you to really focus and think about the verses you are memorizing through repeated study. By going over the verses you have memorized again and again they become more ingrained into your mind and readily available at any instant to dwell on and ponder.

Fellowship

Major League Quizzing provides fellowship by giving a sense of unity through everyone memorizing and spending time over the same sections of God’s words. Local groups meet monthly to encourage and spur one another on in memorization and provide extra accountability to stay on track. Yearly there is a tournament for believers to come together and enjoy fellowship with those who are passionate about Scripture memorization.

Accountability

Major League Quizzing keeps you accountable to continue memorizing by providing you with an achievable and attainable goal, games to play with friends that challenge you to keep memorizing, and local groups to be a part of that help you stay committed to memorizing your chapters.

  • Bible memorization is absolutely fundamental to spiritual formation. If I had to choose between all the disciplines of the spiritual life, I would choose Bible memorization, because it is a fundamental way of filling our minds with what it needs. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth. That’s where you need it! How does it get in your mouth? Memorization”

  • I committed all of Hebrews to memory. And as I did, it was like swimming in the book. Deeper dimensions of the text and its application opened up for me. I followed the author’s flow of thought in ways I hadn’t seen before. I learned the warp and woof of each chapter. But more than all that, there were moments I worshiped Jesus as I saw him through the lens of this book — moments that I had not experienced in my read-throughs.

  • It is not hasty reading, but seriously meditating upon holy and heavenly truths that makes them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the bee's touching on the flowers that gathers the honey, but her abiding for a time upon them, and drawing out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most on divine truth, that will prove the choicest, wisest, strongest Christian.

  • I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture. . . . No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper and much more effective. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. Your mind will become alert and observant. Your confidence and assurance will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified.
